But I did find it surprising to see how many performance spaces Scarlet Lady had onboard, even transforming non-traditional music venues into them at night for everything from low-key tunes to all-out dance parties. The only areas that ever felt crowded were the pools at the Aquatic Club and Gym and Tonic, which is pretty typical of any cruise ship, especially on sea days. But besides feeling like we had the ship to ourselves, there was the feeling of inclusion aboard Valiant Lady. Once you’re back on the ship after a day of exploration, award-winning entertainment options will reinforce the wisdom of leaving the kids at home.
On our sea day, when the pool was most packed, the lounge remained an empty reprieve, and we certainly felt like RockStars with our whims catered to at every turn. Redemption, the ship’s spa, will transport you to an underwater cave complete hydrotherapy pool, mud room, salt room, cold plunge pools, quartz beds and rejuvenating treatments. If the idea of letting those abs go without a plank for a few days is enough to make you walk one, take a step inside Athletic Club.
I will be getting out a full review of that ship (it needs its own blog post). Just because it’s an adults-only cruise doesn’t mean the drinks are unlimited – unless you want them to be. Rather than an assigned dining time, sailors can book reservations at any of the five restaurants on board just as they would on land. I expected nothing but a nightclub scene from the "party capital of the world," so I was amazed by the city's vibrant buildings and ocean views while wandering up and down hilly streets.
The Wake – The upscale “steak and seafood” restaurant that is also available for brunch most days with unique brunch items and a variety of egg preparations. This is the most popular restaurant and fills up fast, so reserve early. Our group found the spa so generally unappealing, that even though we were comped anytime access for our entire voyage, most of us only used it once while some of the ladies used it two or three times at most.
